Dr. Jenn Smist is a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications Program within the College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences (ACES) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She teaches leadership courses that help students develop their individual capacity to address complex challenges and achieve their potential as emerging leaders. She regularly facilitates leadership workshops for students, faculty, staff, and community groups focused on personal development, interpersonal leadership skills, organizational change, and instructional strategies.

Jenn is an active member of the Junior League of Champaign-Urbana. She completed the United Way Emerging Community Leaders program and has served on the Community Impact Committee since 2016. She also served two years as an AmeriCorps*VISTA with Massachusetts Campus Compact prior to attending graduate school. 

Jenn earned a B.A. in psychology from Boston University, an M.A. in college student personnel from the University of Maryland, and a Ph.D. in education organization and leadership from the University of Illinois.
